The Opportunity: Based at our Welshpool site, the Production Engineer works within the Engineering Product Design team which is responsible for the technical review and design of any new design requests such as Local Options (LOPs) equipment modifications and or Special Design Requests (SDRs) - ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality products for our Customers. The role extends beyond initial scoping, feasibility and specification (via the Sales Support team) to include Product Design through to Production Engineering. The Production Engineer serves as the first point of contact for Engineering Support, offering assistance with “as built” and first- article/concept local options (LOPs) and resolving in-build design and manufacturing issues. Key Responsibilities: Validate Local Option (LOP) concepts and fitment in the workshop Supporting First Article Inspection for new product introduction LOP issue resolution in the workshop Facilitation of new LOP design reviews Provide day-to-day Engineering support and resolve Engineering issues for Operations Collaborate with and manage 3rd-party vendors to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements Optimise the assembly, sub assembly flow and logistics to the right rate and quality of output in order to meet supply needs. Manage the engineering data systems (QMS/NCs, Windchill PLM) and ensure data integrity Work with the Komatsu Australia Technical and Safety Departments to ensure that all Engineering activities conform Workplace Health and Safety and ISO 90001-accredited processes as outlined in Engineering Services Support Manual. Proficiency with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word and Excel) and Design software (CAD, Solidworks, solid Edge, PTC Creo, Windchill, Hyperworks) Good understanding of Quality Management and Continuous Improvement techniques. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical, organisation and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of mechanical and hydraulic engineering and a working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems. Knowledge of Engineering Design processes DMADV DMAIC Ability to develop and clearly articulate engineering activity plans. Ability to communicate project status in simple quantitative relating to SLQDC objectives. Ability to travel to Komatsu sites, suppliers, and customers nationally if required. Ability to access, enter, and inspect machines during build at customer sites. Qualifications: Tertiary studies and Qualifications in Engineering (Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering (Required) Accreditation with Engineers Australia or equivalent (NER, CPEng, RPEQ, RPEVetc) (Desirable) Ready to get started?
