This is a contract role offering an exciting opportunity to work with a well-established OEM renowned for their expertise in the industry. About you: As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Utilize Autodesk Inventor to create detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings for underground mining equipment. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations to ensure the integrity and reliability of designs. Develop and design hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with a preference for candidates experienced in these areas. Collaborate with a highly experienced engineering team to develop innovative solutions that meet industry standards and client specifications. Review and revise existing designs to improve performance, safety, and cost-efficiency. Conduct thorough documentation and maintain design records in compliance with company standards and best practices. Participate in project meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies. Provide support to Junior engineers through their development. Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Mechanical Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry. Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is essential. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations. Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is preferred but not essential. Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality technical drawings and documentation. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet project deadlines.
