Description Fixed Term, full-time appointment (2.5 years) Level 6/7: $88,865 - $110,039 17% Superannuation Position based at the University of Sydney The Occasions of Care Explained and Analysed (OCEAN) tool is a newly developed online data collection platform to collect and analyse clinical activity data from primary care clinicians. A team from the University of Wollongong and the University of Sydney is collecting and analysing data from selected groups of non-medical professionals working in Australian general practices. This innovative research will involve the first data collected on clinical activity for these professions in Australian primary care. The resulting dataset will create an important evidence base to assess the contribution of these professionals to general practice. An exciting opportunity exists for a Software Engineer to support the OCEAN team. You will work closely with the research team to align development with project goals and ensure the platform meets user needs. You will also provide comprehensive support for users via email and phone, addressing technical issues and guiding users to smooth their experience. To be successful in this role, you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience. You must be skilled in HTML, JavaScript (ReactJS), Linux, Nginx, Docker, Git, and the Python Django framework, with a strong ability to build and maintain scalable web applications and leverage Django’s built-in security features. You should demonstrate initiative, the ability to plan ahead, exercise independent judgment, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and explain technical concepts to non-technical team members. Experience working on academic research projects related to health informatics, such as an honours project, a capstone project, or similar experience will be highly regarded.
