Working alongside our clients, your role and responsibilities as a Platform Engineering Lead will focus on: Strategy β Ability to understand the current landscape and provide recommendations to provide the greatest business value return. Enable β Implement new techniques and processes to improve engineering capability in the Route to Live. Teach our clients through the process and to own once itβs been implemented. Extend β Deliver engineering solutions across QCE areas, enhancing existing engineering within our clients whilst providing QCE insights to improve Route to Live. You will have proficiency in several of our core capabilities and feel comfortable leading agile development teams. Responsibilities: Platform Design and Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their pain points and requirements, translate those insights into a comprehensive Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that accelerates development and deployment workflows. Automation and Tooling: Champion automation and CI/CD practices. Implement and manage robust pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and similar. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Embrace IaC principles using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud infrastructure reliably and consistently. Cloud Architecture: Design and implement scalable and resilient cloud architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP. Evangelise best practices to engineering teams for building cloud-native applications. Observability and Monitoring: Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions to gain insights into platform health and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues proactively. Mentorship and Collaboration: Share your expertise with other engineers, provide guidance on best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Required Skills and Expertise: Proven experience in DevOps or a related field with proven expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud infrastructure. Passion for building developer platforms and a strong understanding of the principles and practices of Platform Engineering. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., TypeScript, JS, C#, etc.). Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP), including expertise in provisioning and managing resources, configuring networking and security, and deploying applications. Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar. Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, ArgoCD, etc. to define and manage infrastructure. Backend Frameworks Exposure to a variety of application frameworks (e.g., Next.js, ASP .NET Core, etc.) Problem-Solving and Communication: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Continuous Learning: A strong desire to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in DevOps and Platform Engineering. Bonus Points: Experience in designing and implementing Internal Developer Platforms. Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana and Sloth. Contributions to open-source projects or communities.
