You will be working on the latest technologies (AWS, Java Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka) in a greenfield project building out new digital experiences and core trading capability for this major financial institution. Working with the application teams to design and create database schemas for a suite of new microservices. Ensuring that databases and designs are optimised for scale and performance. Other cloud engineering or development tasks as required Cloud engineering and development background with a specific focus on databases the roles includes the design, provisioning, optimisation and operation of highly available and resilient database solutions using AWS Aurora Postgres. Skills Required: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT discipline. 7 years of relevant working experience Extensive knowledge and experience implementing highly available database solutions on AWS Postgres Aurora Extensive knowledge of AWS services related to databases and networking Experience as a DBA or database designer with Postgres. Database tuning and optimisation Experience with cloud data security - in the context of a cloud based platform ideally in financial services. Experience or knowledge of implementing backup, failover and disaster recovery strategies IaC experience with Terraform or CDK Certifications on AWS (Preferred) or Google Cloud Platform Good delegation and time management skills Problem-solving abilities Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment Engage with application engineers to create performant solutions Collaborate across time zones via documents, and frequent videoconferences Excellent debugging and optimization skills
