Do you want to be part of the solution to keeping Victoria safe from Bushfires and other emergency events? Is climate response important to you? Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) is a team of about 80 technical specialists, who discover, design, develop and deliver a complex and integrated suite of products and platforms enabling DEECA to plan, monitor and respond to Bushfires and other Emergencies. The role will report to the Manager, Technology Design and Operations and will be required to lead and mentor a small team of cloud, network and cybersecurity engineers as well as to do hands on cloud engineering and systems administration and contribute to cloud technology design and architecture. You will be expected to be able to understand and design and diagram scalable Azure cloud infrastructure, have a good working understanding of networking and cybersecurity principles and be familiar with best practice in operational systems management, including identity and access management, disaster recovery, backups and patching. You should still enjoy working “on the tools” and have practical hands-on experience applying system changes and troubleshooting platform issues in an Azure environment. Ideally you will have experience writing “Infrastructure as Code” scripts to deploy and configure platform capabilities and be able to work in a coordinated effort with our DevOps automation team (either in Terraform or be willing to learn). Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Essential Strong, hands-on skills, in Cloud engineering, particularly in Microsoft Azure A working knowledge of networking and cybersecurity principles. Experience implementing and managing IT hosting environments, including activities such as Identity and access management, Patching, Backups, Monitoring and Disaster Recovery You will be a natural mentor and collaborator who builds trust between colleagues and team members alike. You will be a self-starter with a dedication to self-learning. Desirable Hold at least one relevant Microsoft Azure Certification Experience configuring and managing network technology including Citrix Netscaler Experience in developing Infrastructure as Code scripts using tools such as Terraform. Experience using JIRA, JIRA service Management and Confluence Experience managing web hosting and database infrastructure, including Microsoft SQL Server. Tertiary qualification(s) in computer science, technology, engineering, or related discipline. This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
