About the role The role of a Cost Controller is to ensure the Metro Tunnel Project Office (MTPO) is meeting ongoing internal and external progress monitoring and reporting requirements. Cost Management: Track and monitor project costs to ensure they stay within the budget/ forecast Cost Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and updates to stakeholders Cost Analysis : Identify variances and potential areas of cost fluctuations Forecasting : Assist in preparing budget forecast packages by analysing costs, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring alignment with the objectives of each package. Compliance: Ensure all financial process meet internal policies and external regulations View the position description here Key accountabilities Responsibility for various aspects of project control including allocating budgets, reporting cost deviations, cash flow reporting, cost forecasting and change management. Support the maintenance of the Project Controls System to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting is provided in a timely manner and available. Track performance reporting timeframes to ensure that performance and cost outcomes are achieved. Participate in contractor bid reviews, assist in contractor variation, and claims evaluations. Review monthly contractor progress claims to ensure variations have been approved and the claims substantiated as required. Support the Senior Cost Controller to develop and prepare project reports, provide cost control, and change management support across the project scope for the relevant Work Package teams. Work with various functional areas across the authority (including project managers, commercial, legal and finance teams) to ensure best for project outcomes are achieved. About you Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve competing priorities within tight timeframes. Knowledge and application of Cost Control principles. Understanding of project controls mechanisms including cost forecast, program, and month end reporting. Demonstrated project cost control experience within major construction or infrastructure projects is preferable. Knowledge of Project Management principles. Competency with various software products such as the Microsoft Office suits and document management systems. Experience in reviewing cost forecasts considering expenditure to date and construction programs.
