About the role Our business has a growing portfolio of rail projects and we are looking to for an experienced signalling design professional with thorough knowledge of railway signalling practices and principles to join our team. This is an important role that will lead and provide day to day guidance and coordination of the Signalling Engineering team. Drawing on your experience you will provide expert advice in relation to all aspects of the signalling design process and where required carry out independent verification/checking of the designs. Through your applied leadership you will support the development of individuals capability and develop and ensure technical development and expert knowledge is transferred to others. You will manage the welfare of the signalling team through: Ensuring resources have the appropriate competencies to undertake signalling design activities. Creating a professional development environment with supporting processes (within the existing HR practices) to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team Assigning resources to projects to encourage professional growth and career outcomes Championing organisational change activities within the team. You will also be required to Co-ordinate with Project Managers to ensure resource planning to meet the project requirements of the business. Ensure the organisation’s signalling design and testing processes are best practice and support the requirements of the business. Take responsibility for overall quality of signalling design. Be an effective interface between the signalling team, other engineering teams within the business, and senior management to ensure alignment of organization wide strategy and implementation. Ensure the signalling team carry out their responsibilities in accordance with safety systems and processes. About you It is essential that you have a minimum of 10 years railway signalling design experience. Thorough knowledge of railway signalling practices and principles including an excellent appreciation and understanding of client needs and requirements. Registered professional engineer with an electrical or electronic engineering degree. Post graduate qualifications in related field or equivalent technical experience.
