In this vital role, you will be responsible for the management, safety, and compliance of critical water storage and flood mitigation assets, including Copperlode Falls Dam and detention basins that play a key role in the region’s water supply and flood protection. The Opportunity As the Senior Dams Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, operational integrity, and regulatory compliance of Copperlode Falls Dam and three detention basins that are critical to the region’s flood management and water supply for drinking and irrigation. You will lead routine and comprehensive dam inspections, oversee asset safety improvements, and develop long-term strategies for maintenance and upgrades. You will also work closely with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure that all dam management activities meet industry standards and protect the surrounding communities. This role allows you to apply your technical expertise in dam safety while contributing to projects with real community impact. Key Responsibilities: Lead regulatory compliance and safety management for key dams and detention basins. Coordinate routine and comprehensive inspections to assess the condition of the dams. Develop and implement strategies for long-term dam maintenance and upgrades. Provide technical expertise and guidance on dam safety improvements and risk mitigation. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. Ensure the dams continue to meet flood mitigation and water storage requirements, protecting the region's communities. Required Skills & Experience: Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical). RPEQ status (or commitment to obtaining it) highly desirable. Proven experience in dam safety engineering and working with dam safety management programs. Strong understanding of Australian regulations and industry standards (ANCOLD). Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
