This is the chance to join right as the takes off. More About the Role at Canva What you’d be doing in this role As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on: - Design and implement frontend components of internal tools used across multiple teams - Collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team of leads, designers, product managers, and other engineers throughout the lifecycle of a project - Building engineering tools and frameworks (especially reusable frontend components) that help us rapidly and reliably conduct front-end software development - Facilitate knowledge sharing and effectively advocate for engineering needs - Model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, e.g. learning and maximising the use of the Canva engineering landscape, technical systems, ways of working and delivering outcomes - Contribute to defining, improving, and codifying best practices and methodologies for frontend engineering at Canva - Craft and present engaging presentations to the frontend specialty - Participate in design and code reviews - Identify and address performance bottlenecks - Improve test coverage You're probably a match if - At home working on our core FE stack; JavaScript, (React), HTML, CSS, & Typescript - Practical knowledge of data structures and algorithms - Ability to write clean reusable code for UI components, including appropriate testing - A strong understanding of computer science and object-oriented engineering fundamentals as well as concurrency, multithreading, data structures, and design patterns - Strong user empathy and passion for delivering value to customers About the team Canva's Generative AI Platform Group is responsible for the delivery of capabilities which empower transformational ML and AI initiatives, from early ideation and prototyping, through to scaling to meet the needs of millions of Canva users in production. We empower thousands of engineers and product managers to deliver amazing product features which harness the power of cutting-edge technologies. The Training Data & Evaluation Tooling team is a new team, established to provide the engineering backbone for the operationalisation of the production of training and evaluation data; and to develop tools, services and processes to enable product engineers and our Generative AI Research group to rapidly move from idea to a powerful user experience as effortlessly as possible.
