Role – Data Engineer • 12 Month Max-Term Contract • Location: Sydney • Hybrid working model (2 days in a week in the office WFH) How will I help? Join our dynamic team at Westpac, where we share accountability for the maintenance, quality and development of the ‘Digital Foundation’ business-managed application (data mart) that supports data-driven decision-making and measurement for Westpac’s Digital business. Our team focuses on four key aspects of the information integration journey: • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify business priorities and providing consulting on data development. • Ensuring the capability to ingest and model data elements using a range of tools. • Visualizing outcomes based on requirements and data for relevant stakeholders. • Assisting business teams with data and insights to enhance customer experience across digital and other channels. Key accountabilities include: • Advanced data analysis, data modeling, and data presentation in a Teradata and Tableau environment. • Requirement gathering and data consulting. • Delivering consistent, reliable, trusted and timely data, reporting and insights to support better decision-making. • Improving customer service and experience across Westpac Group’s digital channels, including digital banking apps and websites. • Driving revenue, increasing productivity, and reducing costs. • Defining sustainable strategies, modeling benefits, and realizing return on investment. What do I need? • Experience with large datasets. • Excellent technical skills in SQL programming. • Experience with BI tools like Tableau/Power BI and familiarity with data engineering platforms. • Proactive self-starter who enjoys challenges and continuously seeks to improve skills and processes. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Ability to critically assess business problems from various perspectives, focusing on delivering sustainable business outcomes that create value. • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills. • Self-motivated and results-focused. • Team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
