We develop and manufacture mounting solutions made of Aluminium and steel for solar farms, flat roofs and pitched roofs. They now seek an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Wetherill Park team. The Role This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for new challenges and looking to develop professionally. The role is a full time position with an annual salary set at $75,000 Superannuation depending on experience plus superannuation. Responsibilities Design innovative and cost-effective mounting solutions for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements. Utilize Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to develop precise 2D and 3D designs for components and assemblies used in solar PV mounting systems. Design and develop new products and components in Autodesk Inventor , from concept to final design, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards. Perform advanced structural analysis and simulations to ensure the safety and durability of mounting systems under environmental loads, including wind, snow, and seismic forces. Conduct site inspections to assess installation quality, verify compliance with design specifications, and ensure standards are met before providing final sign-off. Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and installation processes. Ensure compliance with Australian standards for wind, structural design, and wood fixing, including AS/NZS 1170.2 : Wind actions, AS/NZS 1664 : Aluminum structures, AS 1684 : Residential timber-framed construction, AS 1720.1 : Timber structures - Design methods, AS 4040.2 : Methods of testing sheet roof and wall cladding - Resistance to wind pressures, AS/NZS 4600 : Cold-formed steel structures, AS 1859 : Reconstituted wood-based panels - Specifications and AS/NZS 2269 : Plywood - Structural. Evaluate new materials, components, and manufacturing techniques to enhance the sustainability, quality, and efficiency of designs. Collaborate with internal teams such as project managers, engineers, and technical specialists to ensure smooth integration of designs into larger systems. Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams by developing client-specific design proposals, product documentation, and visual aids. Analyse project-specific requirements and propose tailored solutions to maximize system efficiency and ease of installation. Maintain and update design records, calculations, and project files to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards. Research and integrate the latest advancements in solar energy technology and structural engineering into ongoing and future projects. Stay up-to-date with Australian standards and regulatory requirements, particularly related to wind zone classifications, roof-based solar PV mounting systems, and wood fixing for structural safety. Offer support during installation phases by providing technical guidance and resolving on-site challenges when required. The Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. 3 years of full-time relevant work experience required. Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor , AutoCAD , and other design softwares. Demonstrated experience in structural analysis and simulation tools. Strong understanding of Australian standards, including AS/NZS 1170.2 , AS 1684 , AS 1720.1 , and other relevant codes for wind, structures, and wood fixing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills for preparing reports, proposals, and documentation. Prior experience in the solar energy or renewable energy sector is highly desirable. Willingness to travel occasionally for site inspections and support.
