Description Role: permanent, full-time position Location: Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast Hybrid: 2 days a week from our engineering hub How will I help? We are building an exciting new function here on the Gold Coast A team of software engineers who will be responsible for securing our applications from current and future threats. This team will be composed of software engineers who understand the importance of building secure code and ensuring our development practices have security built in as part of the development process. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and resilience of our applications. Your expertise in resolving security vulnerabilities will be crucial in safeguarding our systems against potential threats. This role is perfect for a strong engineer with experience in this area or someone interested in focusing on this specialty. Please note, this position requires working from the office at least two days per week. Candidates must be based in the Surfers Paradise or Gold Coast area, or be able to commute easily to this location, so you can work from our newly created Engineering Hub Key responsibilities include: Programming Expertise: Utilize your deep knowledge of Java, C#, Node.js or React to analyse and address security issues within our codebase. Application Security: Identify, resolve, and prevent security vulnerabilities in our applications, ensuring they adhere to the highest security standards. Automation of Vulnerability Patching: Develop and implement automated processes for patching vulnerabilities, reducing manual intervention, and improving efficiency. Customer Impact Awareness: Understand and mitigate the impact of security vulnerabilities on our customers, ensuring their data and privacy are protected. Proactive Security Measures: Develop and implement proactive processes to anticipate and react to future vulnerabilities, staying ahead of potential threats. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and customer support, to ensure comprehensive security coverage. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of security issues and resolutions and provide regular reports to management on the status of security vulnerabilities. Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on resolving security vulnerabilities. Proficiency in Java, C#, Node.js or React. Experience with automation tools and techniques for vulnerability patching. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex security issues. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH) are a plus.
