About the role Our major Government client is seeking a Senior Azure Engineer for a 6 month engagement with potential extensions. Based in Burnley, 3 days on site You will assist with thought leadership to modernise the cloud practice with software development methodologies to re-organize the cloud platform as a set of self-service reusable products driven by business value. Responsibilities: Take the endorsed architecture patterns and be responsible for design, build and implementation of Cloud Platforms solutions with technical leadership in design, coding, and configuration. Drive the discussion, take the leadership and provide guidance to enable this client to lead the industry in Azure Platform Engineering best practice and support business outcomes. Take the lead to remediate vulnerabilities and security issues within Azure Platform and support other teams Provide the team with the information, skills, and experience needed to succeed. Own detailed designs for the Azure Cloud Platform. Offer thought leadership on software engineering and cloud platform best practices. Drive adoption of cloud-native solutions and establish automation standards for a leading developer experience. Lead discussions to transition technology teams to a code-first, software engineering mindset. Develop and execute strategic technology lifecycle plans, optimizing costs and timelines. Manage cloud resources to meet financial objectives. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and customer experience experts at a senior level. Implement best practices in cloud automation and DevOps to deliver secure, impactful solutions. Champion innovative software engineering approaches and mentor teams in their development journeys. Participate in a 24/7 support roster. Key Requirements: Expertise in Azure Cloud Platform technologies and services. Strong knowledge of security and compliance engineering concepts. Proven experience building and supporting secure code pipelines and CI/CD with GitLab. Proficient in multiple programming languages (Golang, Python preferred) and cloud tools (YAML, JSON, Terraform, Open Policy Agent). 5–7 years of experience developing and managing software/platform solutions and engineering cloud platforms, including project vending/landing zones. Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (VPCs, networks, security, identity). Experienced DevOps practitioner with self-service provisioning automation and CI/CD pipelines. Proven ability to lead Agile transformations and influence outcomes. Holds or is pursuing Azure Cloud Certifications (highly desirable). Available to participate in a 24/7 support roster.
