What to Expect Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Electronic Design Engineer to contribute to the development and deployment of tooling and solutions for Industrial Storage servicing in APAC. This role will have complex challenges in supply and procurement, design and sourcing of tooling and materials. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on challenging projects. What You’ll Do Design custom tools for servicing of Tesla line of energy products – Megapack, Powerwall etc Own proliferation, beta testing and collecting feedback of the new/production tool performance in the field Become a single point of contact for regional tool forecast, build and QC for APAC teams Lead RCA for all faulty field tools and work with US tooling team in failure investigation Work with vendor and global supply chain team to establish and maintain tool build plan and schedule for APAC region Support field service process development efforts for current and next generation Tesla Energy products Travel to commissioning sites, vendor sites. containment/service sites, and factories 10-15% of the time Cross-functional collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver on tight deadlines for quick turnaround assemblies What You’ll Bring BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering, or equivalent experience 2 years of proven manufacturing, DFM/DFA, QC experience Product/tool release, change control experience General electrical-mechanical design, manufacturing and/or integration experience Strong engineering fundamentals with ability to understand the build and operation of low to medium voltage electrical tools Knowledge of mechanical tolerancing, general assembly steps and various mechanical fabrication techniques, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings Experience working with digital communication busses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.), PCBA, electrical enclosures, electrical harnesses, power supply Understanding of key analogue components such as MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, etc)
