To lead the technical design, engineering, technology innovation and continuous improvement for the technical capabilities and solutions underpinning the Consumer and Business Bank. As part of the Data Engineering Chapter, support the definition and improvement of the craft of engineering and help engineers in the roles sphere of influence grow and mature to their full potential. Key daily duties - Lead the technical design, engineering, technology innovation and continuous improvement of technical capabilities underpinning the Consumer and Business Bank (CBB). Ensure that the engineering and technical capabilities underpinning CBB are industry leading, elegant and designed in line with Westpac standards and industry best practice. Lead the service integration with channels and systems to enable E2E use case activation and scaled usage of the service. Ensure that technical solutions meet all functional, performance, non-functional, and resiliency requirements. Ensure that technical solutions are implemented in line with Westpac DevSecOps and CICD standards and processes. Drive automation and continuous improvement to make all technical solutions simple, efficient, reliable and capable of self-healing. Ensure all cloud engineering is cost optimised and implement guardrails to ensure predictable cloud costs. Implement all required data privacy, data quality, metadata, lineage, data masking, data classification, tokenisation and Responsible AI automated controls required. Lead the engineering team for CBB, fostering a mindset of engineering excellence to enable customer and business outcomes. What’s in it for me? Expertise in cloud-based data, API, real-time, and ML/AI engineering. Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CICD, and test-driven development fundamentals. Proficiency with SAFe 6.0. Leadership experience in engineering teams, including coaching and mentoring Familiarity with LangChain, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector, and Graph databases is a plus What’s it like to work there?
