Project Overview: Pluto Train is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility. Woodside is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source. Job Summary: A Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for startup planning and activities on major projects, coordinating with project management, engineering, construction, and clients to leverage diverse technical team skills to integrate the startup plan. You will identify risks and trends, manage progress reporting, and proactively course correct to ensure goals, schedules, and requirements are met. Major Responsibilities: PSUM Tier I - most applicable to Deputy PSUMs on medium projects, Area Leads on Mega-projects and PSUMs on projects ( Responsible for the startup and/or operations activities on one or more major projects, designated portions of a very large or complex project, or multiple smaller projects as assigned. Plans and at times directs startup engineering assignments and as directed, performs performance reviews for assigned personnel. Assists, as directed, in the preparation of project proposals. Coordinates with project management, the startup related engineering, construction, and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite. Prepares or directs the preparation of operations manuals. Other responsibilities as designated. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently and without supervision. Initial Startup & Shutdown trouble shooting. Experience with initial equipment and system startup. Write/enhance procedures for system start up and operation where require. Ensure team is in strict adherence to published start up procedures and follows management of change for any deviations to procedures. Identify off normal operating situations and restore equipment and systems to design operation in accordance with commissioning and startup programs. Record and evaluate system operating parameters for comparison to design. Heater operations. Provide on-the-job training to junior operations team members. Operate local and control room panels as required. Generate appropriate operating reports. Experience with ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade Process is plus. Experience with operation of refrigeration compressor equipment and systems in accordance with the process design requirements. Must be able to identify and safely react to off normal operating conditions. Can perform plant walk throughs, observing plant conditions and parameters, documenting plant operating parameters on shift log sheets and log books. Handle hazardous materials in accordance with facility environmental and safety programs. Operate equipment and systems in accordance with the process design requirements. Additional Information: This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
