More About the Role at Tesla What to Expect Tesla’s Industrial Energy Product Engineering team is responsible for diagnosing, analysing, and resolving issues within our Megapack and Powerpack products. As an intern, you will engage in software-driven problem-solving and project-focused tasks that boost the performance, reliability, scalability, and commissioning of Tesla’s energy storage solutions. You will help develop analytical tools, workflows, and data-driven insights that optimize fleet operations and improve the customer experience. By creating analytics that surface performance, operational, and maintenance trends, you will help drive decisions that keep our growing global fleet operating at its best. What You’ll Do - Collaborate with Field Service and Customer Support teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues that cause downtime for Tesla’s Industrial Storage customers. - Proactively identify and investigate complex electrical, network, and software problems, partnering with Design, Software, and Quality teams on root cause analysis to drive long-term product improvements. - Serve as a product expert for new site deployments—testing, diagnosing, and resolving issues to ensure seamless, on-time commissioning. - Assess hardware and software design changes, conducting in-market or regional testing as needed. - Build software tools that streamline commissioning tasks, minimize escalations, and proactively flag field issues. - Use Python (or similar) and large-scale data platforms to develop analytics and diagnostic tools, revealing performance and reliability trends across Tesla’s global fleet. What You’ll Bring - Completed or currently pursuing a degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field - Solid engineering fundamentals and intuition, especially for firmware/software-enabled systems - Understanding of power systems and electronics - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, maintaining a proactive, solution-focused attitude when faced with very challenging problems Desired Competencies: - Experience with battery systems and power systems - Familiarity with SQL, Python, or comparable tools for large-scale data analysis - Knowledge of CAN Bus communication - Experience with developing, managing or maintaining equipment running Linux based-applications If you don’t think you're a perfect fit, you should still sign up to Hatch and create a profile, we'll match you to other roles that suit your profile.
