The Engineering and Facilities Services (EFS) Branch of the Mint consists of three teams: Industrial Engineering; Process Engineering; and Product and Tooling Engineering. The Lead Industrial Engineer heads the Industrial Engineering team and reports directly to the branch Director. The team delivers multiple highly complex projects, leads process improvement initiatives and supports manufacturing activities. The Lead Industrial Engineer develops plans and allocates resources to procure and/or develop machines and equipment, and support their ongoing use. They design, implement, maintain and optimise the use and compliance of industrial machinery and equipment, including troubleshooting production issues. The Lead Industrial Engineer manages allocated budgets in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. The key duties of the position include 1. Developing plans and allocating resources to procure and/or develop machines and equipment, and support their ongoing use, including managing workflows, and detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes. 2. Leading a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance, direction and mentoring. 3. Delivering quality outputs that meet stakeholder needs and requirements through the planning and delivery of industrial engineering/technical activities. 4. Ensuring Systems Engineering and Project Management principles are applied to the design, development and implementation of safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective outcomes. 5. Developing and approving engineering designs and drawings. 6. Designing, implementing, maintaining and optimising the use and compliance of industrial machinery and equipment, including troubleshooting production issues. 7. Developing documentation that aligns with established quality, safety and risk management systems. 8. Communicating with senior management, and internal and external stakeholders from various backgrounds and technical abilities, to manage expectations, resolve conflict and influence outcomes. 9. Providing engineering advice and recommendations for the Mint's activities and projects based on applicable standards, industry best practice and relevant approaches. 10. Evaluating technical and design packages and delivered products, ensuring they meet requirements, legislative policy and regulatory frameworks. 11. Managing allocated budgets in accordance with the Australian Government Financial Framework, the Mint's financial procedures and financial delegation.
