Network Operations Engineer Department of Parliamentary Services Ongoing, full-time role PoV 4 - $92,332 - $104,762 base salary range A new Parliamentary Officer Enterprise Agreement is currently being negotiated. It is anticipated that the salary range for this role will increase potentially to $95,102 - $107,905. We have an opportunity for a Network Operations Engineer to join our Network & Security team. About the Role This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organisation's network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Key responsibilities: Proactively monitor network performance and availability using monitoring tools and take appropriate actions to maintain the reliability, performance and security of the network. Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams and configurations. Identify, analyse and resolve network incidents, minimising downtime and service disruption. Document issues, solutions, and root cause analyses for future reference. About you You will ideally bring demonstrated experience in network operations, alongside: Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS). Hands-on experience with Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto Firewalls, or equivalent networking equipment. A good understanding of relevant security frameworks (e.g., ISM, ASD Essential Eight). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to communicate across a broad technical and non-technical audience to understand needs and identify appropriate uses of technology to drive business improvements Tertiary qualification in IT or a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience and certifications. Related certifications like CCNP, CCNA Security or equivalent are desirable but not mandatory. A strong commitment to skills sharing and continuous learning is valued. Why join us?
