We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join Sydney water and the dynamic Water Supply & Production team. In the role, you’ll play a pivotal role in optimising Sydney Water’s bulk water supply across multiple filtration plants, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost efficiency, while working collaboratively with internal and external teams to deliver high-impact, long-term water supply solutions that directly contribute to public health and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Provide technical and operational support for managing bulk water supply to all filtration plants, in line with approved Production Plans. Optimise bulk water supply in collaboration with other teams to meet commercial, regulatory, and customer needs, managing costs, outcomes, and risks. Act as the technical point of contact for internal teams and external service providers, offering advice on bulk water supply and operational strategies. Collaborate with stakeholders from catchment to tap to plan and coordinate outages across the water supply system. Support internal and external teams with technical expertise during bulk water incidents and emergencies, including out-of-hours support. Establish and maintain strong relationships and communications with customers and internal and external stakeholders including WaterNSW, BOO partners, Sydney Desalination Plant, regulators and long-term strategic delivery partners. Experience and Qualifications: Minimum 3 years’ experience in water operations or a similar process engineering environment Demonstrated experience in hands on trouble shooting, optimisation and technical support to water or wastewater operations Stakeholder management and facilitation skills, working in a team environment Experience with SCADA systems, software for analytics, Microsoft Office applications and ability to use customised software packages Essential Requirements: Degree qualified in Engineering or Science Ability to travel and work across various Sydney Water sites.
