About the role This position is responsible for responsible for the day-to-day management of the local traffic network, Parramatta Traffic Committee, management of traffic projects and grant funding, assessment of development applications and state significant development proposals, technical input into strategic planning, plans and policies and allied documents, and the provision of technical advice and permits. On a daily basis you will: Deliver innovative and effective traffic outcomes that align with Council’s strategic documents, legislation and wider community expectations. Lead efforts across the organisation in the planning and reporting of traffic projects and advice, and manage and contribute to strategic, complex, diverse, sensitive projects and multi-disciplinary teams. Represent the Council in a full range of development related forums, including the NSW Land and Environment Court. Peer view reports and correspondence and exercise delegations. Provide direction and setting of targets to achieve key performance indicators. Provide written and verbal briefs to internal and external stakeholders which provide detailed, legally robust and accurate information. Integrate traffic and transport with planning, urban design, environment, heritage, social and economics. Manage grant and general funding of projects in line with approved processes. Negotiate, mediate and resolve complex traffic and transport issues. About You The successful candidate should have extensive and demonstrated experience in delivering innovative and effective traffic and transport outcomes, with a track record of achieving strategic objectives with demonstrated success in working with or for the public sector. Considerable technical and management experience in traffic related matters and teams, and in assisting statutory and/or strategic land use planning. Well-developed ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique. Advanced problem solving and decision-making ability, including confidence in working with leaders to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex issues and conflict. You will bring the following qualifications: Recognised Degree in Civil Engineering and eligible to be a member of The Institution of Engineers Australia. Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence. What’s on offer We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $125,996 to $138,699 plus 11.5% superannuation and 3% Civil Liability Allowance. Participation in Council’s Motor Vehicle Scheme will be discussed with the successful applicant.
