If this sounds like you, come and join us The Opportunity As a Field Engineer, you'll provide expertise in the installation, commissioning and maintenance of customer access and core networks, including Transmission, IP and Voice networks and services. Please note, this position works across a 24/7 support roster (on call roster). Applicants must hold current Australian citizenship status to meet governmental criteria for NV1 Baseline Clearance, which is essential for this role. What you’ll be doing day-to-day Transmission network equipment installation and commissioning within schedule and on budget. QA of Network build including internal and external plant Diagnose and rectify faults on the network within SLA Ensure no unplanned network outages Inspect, observe and perform maintenance programs for the network to ensure it is maintained in optimal condition. Ensure that network restoration following any un-scheduled outage is achieved with minimum interruption to the operation of the network. Ensure that all planned network augmentation/upgrades are achieved with minimum disruption and with the customer satisfied. Maintain and protect all network assets in allotted regions. Ensure all easement/property owners/occupiers are aware of, and respect, the network components that lie on their property. Ensure all property owners are aware of and understand their responsibilities to the assets of the network, to minimise any damage. Ensure any damaged/stolen assets, ie solar panels, marker posts, CEV compounds, etc. are replaced in a timely manner Develop, coordinate and mentor staff and contractors in overcoming all service threatening and service failure situations. Participation in 24/7 on-call support roster What you’ll bring to this role Extensive experience in construction, operation and maintenance of optical fibre telecommunications networks in all environments. Detailed understanding and skilled in the interpretation of telecommunication network deigns. Working knowledge of IP, SDH, DWDM and xPON transmission equipment and DC Power system. Practical knowledge of external plant, ie. Fibre, pit and pipe. Sound understanding of the operating capabilities and characteristics of operating devices used in telecommunications optical fibre transmission networks. Extensive experience in the use and management of sub-contractors in the telecommunications environment. Sound experience working with the public and other stakeholders in the delivery and repair of telecommunication network assets. Relationship management - ability to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, third party contractors and visitors, and a commitment to providing a high level of client service. Ability to work autonomously, being confident to make decisions within own area of responsibility. Demonstrated ability to analyse issues, solve problems by applying high level judgment. Sound leadership and safety management. Well-developed written communications skills (prepare correspondence reports, submissions).
