Senior DevOps Engineer — Melbourne CBD, Melbourne

The company is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia and has offices in the UK, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Guatemala, Philippines, and Bahamas. The Engineering team is essential in ensuring seamless system interoperability and enhancing operational efficiency across the organisation. The Engineering team collaborates to provide the successful candidate with a great knowledge base of the company and the broader financial services industry. Responsibilities: Infrastructure Automation & Deployment Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to enable scalable and repeatable cloud deployments. Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure seamless application and infrastructure delivery. Build and maintain boilerplates for .NET, Go, and Python, enabling teams to quickly deploy standardized, production-ready environments. Implement self-service automation tools and workflows, empowering engineering teams to provision and manage cloud resources independently. Cloud Environment Management Architect, manage, and optimize AWS environments, ensuring high availability, security, and cost-efficiency. Implement best practices for serverless computing (Lambda, Fargate) and containerized workloads. Define and enforce best practices for scalability, monitoring, and disaster recovery across cloud infrastructure. Optimize networking configurations (VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, ALB/NLB) for performance and security. Security & Compliance Ensure secure-by-design principles in cloud infrastructure, including IAM policies, network security, and encryption (KMS, ACM, Secrets Manager). Implement least privilege access controls (RBAC, SSO, MFA) across cloud and CI/CD pipelines. Automate compliance enforcement for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and AWS Well-Architected Framework standards. Collaborate with security teams to integrate logging, monitoring, and threat detection into SIEM and security automation workflows. Observability & Performance Optimisation Deploy and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Datadog or Dynatrace, including APM (Application Performance Monitoring). Implement cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing, autoscaling, and efficient resource utilization. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for system health, availability, and latency. Collaboration & Leadership Mentor and upskill engineering teams in DevOps, cloud automation, and best practices. Drive a DevOps culture, fostering cross-functional collaboration between development, security, and operations teams. Work closely with product and engineering leaders to define scalable DevOps strategies that align with business goals. Continuously evaluate and implement emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve infrastructure efficiency. Who are you? AWS expertise – networking, compute, storage, and security best practices. Terraform – strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC). CI/CD – hands-on experience with GitHub Actions for automated deployments. Boilerplate development – .NET, Go, and Python for standardized deployments. Self-service automation – enabling teams to provision resources independently. Serverless computing – Lambda, Fargate, and containerized workloads. IAM & security – RBAC, SSO, MFA, and cloud security best practices. Monitoring & APM – Datadog or Dynatrace for observability and performance tuning. Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash). Compliance – AWS Well-Architected Framework, ISO 27001, and SOC 2. Problem-solving – ability to troubleshoot complex cloud and automation issues. Collaboration – strong communication with engineering, security, and leadership. Why Eightcap?
