Senior Data Engineer Munro Footwear Group (MFG) has an exciting role for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you'll bring in your solid understanding of Microsoft Azure data ecosystem and software engineering best practices to design, build and scale data infrastructure and pipelines that power analytics and insights across the business. What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and MSSQL. Implement and optimize ETL/ELT processes to support analytics and reporting workloads. Build and manage data models and semantic layers for Power BI reporting. Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs. Apply software engineering principles: unit testing, logging, error handling, and monitoring in data pipelines. Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for data workflows using tools like Azure DevOps. Manage data versioning, code repositories, and promote high-quality coding standards within the data team. Ensure data integrity, governance, and compliance standards are upheld across the platform. Identify and drive performance tuning opportunities within big data workloads. What We're Looking For 5 years' experience in data engineering or software engineering roles with a data focus. Proven experience delivering data pipelines in production environments. Experience working in agile, cross-functional product or analytics teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in handling large-scale, real-time, or batch data workloads. Technical Skills Microsoft Azure Data Platform: Azure Data Factory, Azure storage technology, cost monitoring and optimizations, log analytics queries. Databricks: Proficient with Python notebooks, Spark-based transformations, ML pipelines a plus. SQL Server / T-SQL: Strong experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning. Power BI: Data modeling, DAX, dashboard development. Python: For data wrangling, automation, orchestration scripts. CI/CD: Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub Actions, automated testing and deployments. Experience with Lakehouse architecture or Delta Lake (preferable). Exposure to event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Event Grid) (preferable). Familiarity with Splunk for platform monitoring (preferable). Data security, masking, and privacy best practices (preferable). Retail domain knowledge and exposure to industry standard data models (preferable).
