Description We currently have an opportunity for a Software Engineer. Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. This role’s key responsibility is to lead the continued development of the Sandbox web portal (essentially the front-end site experienced by end users) including the assertion of informal learning from the portal. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including: Lead the ongoing development and enhancement of the Sandbox web portal, ensuring an intuitive and user-friendly interface for end users. Implement and refine the assertion interface for Tracking Informal Learning (TLA framework) to enable seamless interaction via tablets. Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions, incorporating best practices in coding, DevOps, and cloud computing. Conduct unit, integration, and system testing to ensure software reliability, performance, and security. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system functionality. What You’ll Bring Strong proficiency in coding with expertise in modern programming languages. Experience with DevOps tools and cloud computing platforms. Knowledge of system administration, database management, and data structures & algorithms. Hands-on experience in unit, integration, and system testing to validate software functionality. Familiarity with defence environments and an understanding of the TLA framework is highly desirable. You must have and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. Significant experience in a similar role, preferably within a professional services firm or the Defence industry.
