More About the Role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) DESCRIPTION Our Region Services team redefines the way AWS designs, builds, and operates AWS regions to enable new AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Services offerings to customers across every industry and of every size, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector organizations. We are actively seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in cloud operations. AWS is looking for highly motivated Senior Systems Development Engineers who can balance the day-to-day operations of AWS software systems with long-term software engineering to reduce operational toil. We need engineers who enjoy constantly learning and diving deep into the wide range of systems and technologies that make up one of the world’s largest cloud providers. Must hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability) Key job responsibilities - Define and/or refine system requirements, participate in the development and delivery of operability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation - Develop or further existing application and system management tools and processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency - Adapt and improve operations management systems and processes to accommodate rapid and increasing growth in systems and traffic - Participate in the design and execution of production acceptance tests and new hardware evaluations - Monitor the health of the fleet, automating system health, maintenance tasks, and reporting systems as needed - Participate in “on-call” rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 5 years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment experience - 5 years of systems development in an IT or data center environment experience - 3 years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience - 3 years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience - Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with distributed systems at scale If you don’t think you're a perfect fit, you should still sign up to Hatch and create a profile, we'll match you to other roles that suit your profile.
