This role sits within the company’s Rotating Equipment Division (RED) under the Equipment Consulting Services Department, providing expert consultation across refineries, gas plants, and joint ventures. The division plays a key role in advancing operational excellence through innovation, strategic engineering, and global standard development. Role Overview As a Rotating Equipment Engineer, your expertise in compressors, steam turbines, gearboxes, and their auxiliary systems will directly impact the reliability, efficiency, and performance of major facilities. You’ll lead technical evaluations, equipment specification, and troubleshooting initiatives while mentoring junior engineers and influencing engineering standards. This is a critical engineering role in one of the world’s most technically sophisticated energy ecosystems. Key Responsibilities Provide expert consultation on rotating equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, and gearboxes. Review equipment design, performance specifications, and modifications for new and existing facilities. Maintain and improve corporate standards related to rotating machinery and auxiliary systems. Lead the development and deployment of new technologies to improve equipment reliability and solve plant-specific challenges. Direct root cause analysis and resolution of complex machinery issues in high-value assets. Mentor junior engineers and guide cross-functional technical teams through complex evaluations. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred). Minimum 20 years’ experience in rotating equipment engineering within refineries, petrochemical plants, or gas operations. Advanced expertise in compressors, steam turbines, gearboxes, and associated systems (seals, bearings, lube oil systems). In-depth knowledge of API and international standards relevant to rotating equipment. Certified Category II vibration analyst. Must be able to provide at least two authored engineering case studies or reports on compressor/turbine issues and solutions.
