SCHOTTEL is a manufacturer of propulsion and steering systems for ships and offshore applications. The company founder Josef Becker invented the rudderpropeller, a z-drive, in 1950. Today the company develops and manufactures azimuth propulsion, maneuvering and steering systems. SCHOTTEL Australia Pty Ltd is looking for a Service Engineer (Mechanical) to build capability, drive process improvement and execute SCHOTTEL's service solution supporting our customers. The position is based in Brisbane, QLD and offers an annual salary of $108,000. The tasks of this role include the following: Undertake and document inspections, maintenance and service work. Collect and analyse data collected during inspections. Installation, commissioning, and validation of SCHOTTEL products mechanical assemblies during shipbuilding stage in the yard in support of SCHOTTEL engineers. Meet daily service maintenance repair needs by fault finding and repair of the defects of equipment on site or in at the workshop quickly and with utmost competence, skill and in cost effective manner. Prepare technical reports for use by engineering, management, or sales personnel. Provide technical mechanical engineering support to customers and other service professionals as required and come up with solutions to enable safe, continued operation. Request, install, and anticipate parts needed for satisfactory repair. Review all logs for open issues and prepare formal reports to customers as necessary with focus on facts (and not contestable judgment or conclusions). Ensure that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Assess product/equipment performance based on field support data; recommend modifications or improvements in consultation with the office. Make adequate safety preparations, conduct risk assessment and adhere to safe practices and regulations. Skills and experience required for the position: Trade qualification or similar in a relevant engineering field Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical engineering technician or related positions in relation to vessel propulsion units
