About the role: As a Senior Software Engineer at Xero, you’ll play a crucial role in building reliable, scalable solutions. You’ll contribute directly to our products while helping your team adopt strong development practices. This is a hands-on, "on the tools" role. You'll play a key role in integrating analytics tools into our ecosystem and building beautiful analytics from the ground up, creating experiences that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights for our customers. What you'll do: - Deliver impactful projects: Take ownership of semi-annual/annual outcomes, ensuring successful delivery while improving team effectiveness. - Lead by example: Act as a role model for engineering excellence, promoting best practices and guiding the team in adopting effective processes. - Support team growth: Provide mentorship and technical guidance, helping teammates develop their skills and grow professionally. - Drive improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to team workflows, ensuring scalable and efficient delivery of high-quality solutions. - Foster collaboration: Build strong, productive relationships with cross-functional teams to align efforts and achieve shared goals. What you'll bring with you: - Proficiency in .NET and React is essential, as these will be core technologies in your day-to-day work. - Previous experience as a Senior Software Engineer, with a track record of delivering high-quality software solutions at scale. - Deep understanding of the full development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment. - Experience auditing codebases to maintain high standards for security, scalability, and testability, while ensuring code changes are manageable and efficient. - Ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. - Skilled in contributing to or facilitating discussions on application design and implementation, with a focus on scaling products effectively. - Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor engineers, fostering growth and excellence within the team while embodying Xero's values. - Hands-on experience with designing and building modern engineering stacks, with exposure to platforms like AWS or GCP being highly beneficial.
