Wintel Systems Engineer — Canberra Region, Australian Capital Territory

Who we are The Digital and Technology Services (DTS) branch contributes to the success of the ACMA by supporting employees through the provision of core ICT functions and the delivery of a coordinated program of Digital and Technology projects to internal and external stakeholders. As an enabling service, DTS works with the ACMA through the provision of specialised ICT systems, exploring digital business opportunities, and supporting ACMA enquiry handling and service delivery via the Customer Services Centre and online channels. The ICT Platform Services and Support Section (IPSS) is a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. The objective of our team is to deliver a professional operations capability, ensuring the security, maintenance, availability, and reliability of the agency's ICT platforms across both cloud and on-premises environments. About the role The Wintel System Engineer role is a high performing engineering role that works across several areas, predominately focused on developing and maintaining the ACMA's on premises infrastructure and applications. You will have a strong background in several technologies and can demonstrate an aptitude to develop hybrid cloud infrastructure-based skills into the future. The key duties of the position include You will be expected to: Take a lead role in the development and maintenance of the ACMA's on-premises infrastructure and applications, (including Nutanix AHV Infrastructure, Commvault, Active Directory, Unified Comms, Kemp) and ensuring support standards are met. Tune monitoring and alerting services within the on-premises infrastructure and applications ecosystem (PRTG). Uplift and maintain Essential 8 principles within the ACMA's operating environment. Support hybrid cloud adoption, delivering and integrating MS solutions within a hybrid cloud infrastructure-based environment (Microsoft Azure & Office 365). Provide technical guidance during new technologies initiatives. Provide support with other members for ACMA's ICT platform services. Create and maintain documentation for the on-premises infrastructure and application environments. You'll be a strong advocate of security-first solutions. Developing, managing, and maintaining a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships and networks. The role will suit an individual who has a strong infrastructure background and has a willingness to develop core skills within the MS Azure Cloud ecosystem
