Job Description Java Application Support Engineer | Contract | Up to $900 day Hybrid, 3 days a week in office Sydney CBD 12- month contract Quick 2 round-interview process We’re hiring a Java-based Application Support Engineer contractor to join a high-performing team within one of Australia’s leading financial institutions, supporting complex, cloud-hosted banking applications . This is a newly created position where you'll have a chance to work with cutting-edge tools across cloud, microservices, event-driven systems, containers, and real-time data , all within a large-scale production environment. You’ll be the go-to person for triaging technical issues that impact customer-facing banking systems —from payments and accounts to loan servicing—while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and incident response teams. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and resolve complex production issues in Java-based systems Act as a key liaison between engineering and 24/7 support/incident teams Investigate root causes, raise bugs with dev teams, and suggest fixes Coordinate ticket handling within agreed SLAs and improve documentation Contribute to tooling and process improvements for issue triaging Participate in occasional on-call rotations and share learnings across the team What we’re looking for: Strong Java debugging and application support experience Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), containers, microservices & APIs Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, event streaming, and CI/CD tooling Familiarity with Site Reliability practices and performance monitoring tools Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset If you're interested, APPLY HERE or reach out to Monicatheonset.com.au
