Data Engineer (Contract – 8 Weeks) Location: Hybrid (2 days in-office) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support Phase 2 of an ongoing data transformation project for a major Oil & Gas client. This phase focuses on building data pipelines into an already-established Microsoft DataVerse model, handling transformation logic, and integrating seamlessly with Azure technologies . You’ll join a small but efficient team of four engineers, collaborating closely with professionals from one of Australia’s leading IT consulting firms , renowned for delivering high-impact data transformation solutions. This role is perfect for contractors who are confident operating within clearly defined scopes and are seeking stable, short-term work with a high potential for extension. Key Responsibilities Data Integration: Build pipelines to migrate datasets (CSV or SQL-based) into Microsoft DataVerse. Azure Implementation: Leverage Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) for intuitive, drag-and-drop pipeline development. Data Transformation: Apply transformation logic as per comprehensive documentation. SQL and Data Flows: Support specific integrations requiring SQL queries and data flows. Collaboration: Work closely with consultants from a top-tier Australian IT consulting firm and contribute effectively to a highly capable team environment. Delivery Focus: Complete assigned work within the fixed 8-week project timeline . (Extensions only possible if delivery delays occur.) Candidate Requirements Proven experience with Azure Data Factory , DataVerse , and Azure Data Lake Storage . Familiarity with data transformation pipelines and drag-and-drop development interfaces . Strong proficiency in SQL and understanding of data modeling best practices . Industry experience in Oil & Gas is a plus but not mandatory . Ability to work hybrid , with two days a week onsite .
