This is an Identified position open to all Australian Citizens About the Group The Strategic Operations Group is an enabling services function providing strategic support to the Institute. The group comprises 5 areas covering Office of the Deputy CEO, People Services, Finance, Digital Services and the Central Australia facility (Mparntwe). About the Program Area Digital Services sits within the Strategic Operations Group. Digital Services has four core teams (Development Services, ICT Operations, ICT Security & Infrastructure, and Information & Data Governance) that work together under the direction of the Chief Information Officer to provide a secure, flexible, and modern ICT capability allowing AIATSIS to take full advantage of digital capabilities whilst providing a stable and mature platform to deliver its day-to-day operations. The section also leads digital transformation initiatives from start to finish for AIATSIS ensuring that the agency excels in providing cutting-edge services to our customers, such as the modernising and transformation of our existing educational platform to constructing secure, transformative digital experiences and galleries. Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Storage Engineer preferentially with expertise in Quantum StorNext file systems and / or similar enterprise storage solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting high-performance storage infrastructure to support critical business operations across multiple sites. The key duties of the position include support the best practice Design, implementation and continued maintenance of Quantum StorNext storage environments across multiple sites for the AIATSIS Collections infrastructure manage and optimize large-scale storage solutions, including SAN (Storage Area Networks) and NAS systems. monitor storage performance, capacity, and reliability, ensuring high availability. implement data protection strategies, backup, and disaster recovery solutions. manage and maintain LTO Tape Library systems for archival and backup purposes. perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patch management for storage infrastructure. develop and enforce storage policies, standards, and best practices. troubleshoot complex storage issues and work with vendors for resolution. collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless data flow and integration. document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. provide technical support and training to IT teams as needed. support and enable AIATSIS to manage its data architecture per National Archives of Australia instructions and relevant record authorities under the National Archives ACT.
