Our client is seeking a driven Estimator-in-the-making someone with project engineering roots and a sharp mind for numbers ready to pivot into pre-contracts and estimating. This role has been newly created to support internal growth and to groom the right person into a Senior Estimator. The Role This is a unique opportunity for a Project Engineer with 5 years' experience to transition into estimating and pre-contracts. You'll work closely with senior estimators and commercial leads on large, technically complex projects learning how to price, plan, and win major bids across oil & gas, mechanical, and civil scopes. Your background in project delivery (ideally with exposure to pipeline or plant construction) will give you a solid foundation. From there, you'll be trained on the in-house estimating platform, working alongside one of the best teams in the business. Responsibilities Support tender submissions across major mechanical, pipeline, and civil infrastructure scopes Break down project scopes, review engineering inputs, and prepare cost estimates Coordinate pricing inputs with procurement, engineering, and delivery teams Use internal estimating tools to model quantities, cost build-ups, and unit rates Assist in risk assessments, tender clarifications, and client presentations Maintain a library of cost data and support continuous improvement in estimating systems Work on 12 bids at a time, with increasing autonomy over time Requirements 5 years' experience as a Project Engineer on major infrastructure or industrial projects Delivered at least two full project lifecycles (start to finish preferred) Exposure to mechanical, pipeline, gas plant, refinery, or large civil works is ideal Excel-savvy and analytically minded comfortable building estimates from first principles Strong communicator, collaborative, and ready to learn estimating Ambitious and structured you want to grow into a senior commercial role What's on Offer $170-180k Super optional bonus Tailored mentoring and full training in pre-contracts and estimating Work on landmark energy and infrastructure projects Collaborative, down-to-earth leadership team Real progression pathway into Senior Estimator / Pre-Contracts Manager roles If you're ready to take the next step in your career, apply now or contact [email protected] for more details.
