Linux Engineer with SQL — Denistone West, Ryde Area

Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure. Perform routine system and database maintenance, upgrades, and patching. Develop shell scripts for automation and system monitoring. Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to Linux, SQL, and Unix environments. Work closely with database administrators, developers, and infrastructure teams to support production systems. Manage backups, disaster recovery processes, and data integrity. Maintain documentation for system configurations and processes. Skills & Experience: 3 years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or similar role. Strong proficiency in Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu) environments. Solid understanding of SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle) for database queries and reporting. Expertise in Unix shell scripting (Bash, Korn, or similar). Knowledge of system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus). Experience with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) is a plus. Familiarity with networking concepts, storage management, and cloud infrastructure is desirable. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, Linux, or LPIC) are a plus.
