The Opportunity We are currently seeking an experienced Carbon Capture Utilisation & Storage (CCUS) Engineer to join a high-performing Downstream Process Engineering Division. This role is ideal for a senior technical expert who is passionate about driving carbon reduction initiatives and leading major industrial decarbonisation projects. You’ll play a key role in designing and implementing CCUS strategies within downstream operations, while collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformational energy projects on a global scale. Key Responsibilities Provide expert input into the development and deployment of CCUS technologies in refining operations. Lead advanced techno-economic studies for large-scale CCUS projects. Review and enhance existing systems to identify improvement opportunities and optimise performance. Initiate and manage capital projects aimed at improving system efficiency and CO₂ capture capability. Develop company-wide technical standards and guidelines for CCUS deployment. Approve and guide the preparation of conceptual and detailed engineering designs. Mentor junior engineers and facilitate internal training programs. Conduct process simulations using platforms such as Aspen HYSYS. Represent the organisation at international conferences and publish technical research. Provide operational advice and technical support on CCUS challenges and technologies. About You To be successful in this role, you’ll have: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded). At least 20 years’ experience across the CCUS value chain, particularly in CO₂ storage and geological assessment. Strong technical knowledge of capture, transport, utilisation, and storage technologies. Experience with carbon policy frameworks (e.g. carbon tax, cap-and-trade, carbon pricing). Demonstrated understanding of project economics across the full CCS lifecycle. Familiarity with process modelling and simulation tools, particularly HYSYS. Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills. Proven leadership capability and a commitment to mentoring and knowledge sharing.
