A leading Australian brand is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its Experience Platform Squad as part of a high-profile digital transformation initiative. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of an API-driven platform by developing robust automation frameworks and testing strategies. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain API automation frameworks for RESTful and GraphQL services. Define and execute test strategies for back-end systems, ensuring high levels of coverage and reliability. Work closely with developers to validate API contracts and integration points. Implement continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions. Identify quality assurance process bottlenecks and recommend improvements. Conduct performance and load testing to validate system reliability under real-world conditions. Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and advocate best practices in API design and testing. Drive the adoption of shift-left testing methodologies, integrating automation early in the development lifecycle. Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of test assets for reusability and scalability. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration in Quality Engineering. Requirements: 5 years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on API automation. Hands-on experience with automation tools such as RestAssured, Postman, or Karate. Strong programming skills in Java or Kotlin for test automation. Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes is a plus). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog, or equivalent). Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in Agile/Scrum teams. Nice to Have: Experience in contract testing using Pact or similar tools . Exposure to security testing practices (OWASP, API security best practices). Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ). This role is a 6 month contract to start off with high opportunity for extension. It is a daily rate contract at $750 - $800 inclusive of Super per day, based in Sydney 2-3 days in office.
