Senior DevOps Engineer — The Rocks, Sydney

My client is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their Systems Engineering team in Sydney CBD. In this role, you'll work with infrastructure and services at scale, supporting high-traffic platforms deployed in AWS. You'll leverage essential technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Nginx, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Consul, and Docker. The goal is to build resilient, self-healing systems that dynamically scale, with everything automated and monitored using the latest tools. This is a 5-day in-office role based in the heart of Sydney CBD, where you'll work alongside a talented team. You'll also have access to regular team events and hackathons, contributing to a vibrant and collaborative work culture. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure in AWS Automate deployments, monitoring, and scaling using Terraform and Kubernetes Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of systems in production Work closely with teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues across services and infrastructure Participate in incident response and contribute to system performance and reliability Requirements Strong experience with AWS cloud services and container orchestration (Kubernetes) Proven experience using Terraform for infrastructure automation Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and systems architecture Hands-on experience with Linux systems and managing large-scale production environments Familiarity with other technologies such as Nginx, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Consul Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible is a plus Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, PHP, Ruby, or Node.js Incident response and security-focused mindset A degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field is preferred Full Australian working rights are required for this role and no sponsorship is offered.
