About the Program: JP9711 is a strategic initiative by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to enhance simulation capabilities for collective training. By developing a Core Simulation Capability, the program enables more frequent and effective simulation events—improving operational readiness and training outcomes for ADF personnel. Your responsibilities will include: Accountable to the JCTB Simulation Event Manager, this role provides critical engineering capability to ensure simulation activities are executed in line with program requirements, engineering standards, and regulatory frameworks. Using systems engineering principles, you will support the planning and execution of simulation-based activities such as virtual exercises and war games, ensuring clarity, traceability, and stakeholder alignment. This is not a solution design role — the focus is on process, requirements management, and governance. We’re looking for someone who excels in documentation, stakeholder engagement, and can deliver structured, high-quality engineering outputs. Key Responsibilities: Lead requirements elicitation, documentation, and traceability for simulation systems and services. Conduct gap analyses and support baseline system assessments. Ensure alignment with JCTB engineering standards, templates, and regulatory frameworks. Contribute to Test & Evaluation (T&E) planning and execution, capturing results and ensuring compliance. Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, contributing to technical reviews and decision-making. Support engineering process improvement and change management initiatives in line with ITSM policies. About you: To be successful in this role, you will have: Degree qualifications in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience Strong experience in systems engineering in complex ICT or simulation environments. Proven expertise in requirements management and the development of detailed engineering documentation. Confident communicator, with a talent for stakeholder engagement and technical collaboration. Familiarity with Defence frameworks, ITIL practices, and configuration/data management. Driven, process-oriented, and committed to delivering operationally impactful results. An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information Special Requirements: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1).
