Senior Process Engineer - Etching — Camperdown, Marrickville Area

Full time, fixed term until 15th May 2026 (Extended Leave Cover) Join a leading technology core research facility at USYD Base Salary $121,508 - $137,032 17% superannuation About the opportunity As the Senior Process Engineer – Etching , you will oversee the wet and dry etching capabilities within the Research & Prototype Foundry. You’ll provide expert technical support to researchers, contribute to collaborative projects, and ensure all etching equipment is well-maintained and fully operational. The role includes advising management on strategic development of etching capabilities and ensuring all activities align with the University’s Work, Health and Safety standards. Your key responsibilities will be to: work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Facility and Program Manager manage and supervise wet and dry etching operations within the Research & Prototype Foundry provide expert technical support and advice to researchers using etching equipment contribute to collaborative research projects through specialised etching knowledge ensure proper maintenance and functionality of all etching tools and systems develop and implement preventative and reactive maintenance protocols advise leadership on etching capabilities and ensure compliance with WHS policies About you Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science or relative working experience in a related field advanced analytical, problem solving and time management skills strong abilities in the management and supervision of a team demonstrated ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments and the needs of researchers excellent planning and project management skills to successfully coordinate projects to completion experience in exploratory research and or fabrication of semiconductor qubits and advanced semiconductor manufacturing extensive experience with wet and dry etching processes, and associated processing techniques in a cleanroom environment.
