Data Engineer Manager Salary: National £32,000 to £55,000 London £40,300 to £89,600 An exciting opportunity exists within our Data Engineering service for a highly skilled individual to work within our Oracle Cloud environment, which is helping to shape the future of insurance through cutting-edge data delivery to predictive analytics, data science and underwriting. The team is part of Aviva's global Data Science Practise (Quantum) and is recognised as a centre of excellence - providing an Oracle Cloud platform that delivers the data needed to drive improved decision-making and performance within Aviva. A bit about the job: You will be responsible for developing in languages including SQL, PLSQL and Python, having the necessary skills to work iteratively and liaise directly with data stakeholders. Able to deliver well-structured code to a deadline and take responsibility for the quality of the solution. Maintain and continuously improve our schedule of production data processes. Review and document the technical designs Lead a small, focussed team of Data Engineers building a modern data ecosystem, undertaking data design, mapping, development and testing work to ensure delivery of robust Data applications, enhancements and meeting the needs of the customers. Work closely with other members of the development team, IT and data users in Quantum and beyond. Advocate data architectural strategy and represent the needs of data users into projects Contribute during planning meetings, requirement gathering, and meetings with application stakeholders. Tasks will also include production of relevant technical and user-facing documentation Skills and experience we're looking for: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent numerate subject or substantial equivalent relevant industry experience Experience of SQL is essential, preferably in a financial services environment and experience of data modelling and mapping is desirable Previous Leadership experience is essential Knowledge of System Design and Application Development Lifecycle A successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with technical knowledge including SQL, along with an understanding of insurance, an interest in analytics, good communication and stakeholder management skills, and an interest in data pipelines What you'll get for this role: Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow - is a promise we make to our colleagues too.
