Job Description Summary The Senior Engineer, Generator & Electrical Systems Product Service will lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to GE's Gas Power business. This Senior Engineer will serve as a recognized expert in the services field, both internally and externally, partnering with customers and industry experts. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy, for both our Customer's and GE's successes. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities - Provide technology stewardship globally for Generator technology - Evaluate conditions reported from the field and define actions to resolve issues timely and efficiently - Manage root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact from initial investigation through the corrective and preventive action phases - Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services operations, quality, commercial, design engineering, etc. to fulfill customer needs - Communicate technical guidance & progress across all levels of internal & external organizations, including plant operators and executive management - Coverage expands from new unit installation & commissioning to operations & maintenance - Mentor and develop Generator & Electrical Systems Product Service engineers - Author knowledge articles for internal and external customers to inform risks, troubleshooting guidelines, and recommendations for improved reliability & availability - Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs - Serve as a thought leader in industry, at conferences, user groups, and customer events - Actively engage in global Product Service meetings to further develop the overall team's expertise Required Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical or relevant in engineering from an accredited college/university or equivalent - Major experience in Generator engineering or related technology in troubleshooting during operation, installation and outage (planned and drive) execution - 10 years of Generator related experience in the power plant industry - 5 years in Generator experience as a field engineer - Proven rational and organizational ability - Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work, of cross- functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion. - Strong communication skills Eligibility Requirements - Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally on occasion, sometimes on short notice - Must be willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution Desired Characteristics - Master's degree in Engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, materials, or systems engineering - High-energy team player with influence and interpersonal skills who can liaise with a wide range of people, from site operations and cross functions to senior management as well as customers in a global environment - Prior experience in a customer support/facing role, understands customer needs from the customer's perspective and ensures that they are met - Strong process discipline with sound analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously - Strong leadership and coaching skills to teach and mentor less experienced staff and can create a knowledge sharing environment for the larger community - Demonstrated project management skills - Ability to drive change across the organization and with clients, using data and positive relationship building - Builds loyalty and commitment Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: No LI-Remote - This is a remote position
