We are now the tailings and geotechnical consultant of choice for several major mining companies with operations in Australia. This expertise, combined with Geosyntec’s world-class reputation in contaminated site remediation, hydrogeology and geotechnical engineering, allows us to better meet the environmental and engineering challenges that our clients face across Australia. We have an opportunity available for a Professional or Project Tailings Engineer to join one of our offices in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Gold Coast . This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in contributing to and managing innovative and challenging projects involving landfills, mines, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems. Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include: Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design, vapor mitigation design, and site layout; Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage; Geotechnical and environmental site characterization; Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems; Project/task management and proposal preparation support; Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and Fieldwork associated with design and construction services. Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. (required) Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field. (preferred) Professional registration (preferred but not essential) At least 5 years (7 preferred) directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience . (required) Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (required) Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred) Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) Excellent writing and communication skills. (required) Field work and overnight travel may be required. Valid Australian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
