About the role The Data Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of efficient and performant data solutions on the Azure platform. The role includes the development of ETL/ELT processes, transforming and loading data from diverse sources, ensuring data integrity is maintained and the design / build of logical and physical data models to support analytic and reporting solutions. Key responsibilities will include: Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using ADF, Azure Databricks and other relevant technologies to extract, transform, and load ETL data from diverse sources. Implement data integrations and data cleansing processes to ensure data quality and consistency. Optimise data pipelines for performance and efficiency, considering factors like data volume and processing time. Engaging with business users, business/technical analysts, data scientists, data architects and others to understand the data requirements for project deliverables. Monitor and optimise data pipelines, databases, and query performance to ensure efficient and timely data processing. Configure and optimise Azure Databricks for efficient data processing and analysis, ensuring high availability and scalability. Undertake IT application-related problem diagnosis, implementing problem resolution or prevention measures as appropriate. About you: Are you a dynamic and experienced Data Engineer with a passion for transforming data into actionable insights? We are seeking an individual who possesses a unique blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and collaborative spirit to join our innovative team. To be successful in the role you will need: 3 plus years as a practicing Data Engineer within a Data and Analytics team. Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline and/or demonstrated competence and experience appropriate to the position. Essential experience with Azure Cloud Technologies and platforms Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Synapse and Azure Databricks. Strong skills across a number of scripting, programming and querying languages: PySpark, SQL, TSQL, Python, pandas, PowerShell, Azure CLI. Customer focus and goal orientated with keen attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the Internal IT team, vendors, partners, and customers. Experience in transport, logistics, engineering, or utilities industries would be advantageous.
