Grid Connection Engineer — South Melbourne, Port Phillip

Reporting to the Grid Connection Manager, and based in Melbourne, we are looking for a Grid Connection Engineer. Lead grid connection management for large-scale solar and storage ventures in the NEM, driving strategic plans, fostering collaborations, and ensuring compliance excellence within the energy landscape. What will you do? Greenfield Origination Strategy: Collaborate on updates and execution with Project Developers and Land Managers. End-to-End Grid Connection Responsibility: Manage Solar and Storage projects' connection processes from pre-feasibility to commissioning. Timely Connection Offers: Ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of connection offers. Risk Management Collaboration: Work closely with project developers to manage connection risks, timelines, and budgets. Contract Review and Analysis: Review and analyze connection agreements with Legal and Site & Permit departments. Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain communication with external stakeholders like AEMO, NSPs, OEMs, and consultants. Regulatory Adaptation: Stay updated on regulations (NER rules, AEMO reports, REZ declarations) to optimize grid connection strategies. Market Intelligence Management: Stay informed on interconnection-related capital costs for informed decision-making. Internal Stakeholder Advisory: Communicate and advise the business on interconnect-related risks and mitigations effectively. What do we need? Education and Experience: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical/Renewable/Power Engineering with 2-4 years in similar NEM roles. Comprehensive NEM Understanding: Proficiency in NEM Grid Connection processes, Electricity rules, and relevant regulations. Project Experience: Demonstrated history in connecting large-scale energy projects via AEMO processes. Skills and Network: Strong network within the Australian energy sector, adept in power systems, project management, and transmission planning. What do we offer?
